What Is The Difference Between Below The Line And Above The Line Campaigns In The Advertising Industry?

admin
Categories: advertising

ATL (Above The Line) – Advertising/Marketing term for expensive media like T.V., Radio etc.
BTL ( Below The Line ) – Is commonly referred to print media such as direct mailers, flyers, brochures etc.
Another way to view it is ‘concept’ delivery versus ‘tactile’ delivery.
A concept media is one where you transmit ideas but nothing concrete ever passes to your audience – radio, tv, billboards and even most newspaper ads.
Tactile delivery is giving the audience something they can actually touch – so coupons, direct mail, product samples.
ATL tends to be visual/auditory where as BTL usually excludes auditory but includes sight, smell, touch, and even taste.
If you are up for a job interview or dealing with an ad agency for the first time, knowing the difference is important and even if there seems to be a push towards say ‘atl’ stuff, ask the question if they link their atl stuff to a btl giveaway etc. That will show you understand not only the difference but also recognise the importance of both streams to the marketing efforts.

How Is Advertising And Marketing Different Between Usa And Britan?

admin
Categories: advertising

the bottom line is…americans are pure capitalists whereas the brits are borderline socialists. We in the united states believe in getting all the customers for ourselves and if not kept in check would spend gargantuan amounts of money to to make the competition inexistant. the brits believe in the equality of all like businesses. in the brit ideal, everyone will eventually have his/her share of clients over time regardless of the marketing strategy and funds vested in advertisement.

Advertising is only one area in which Graphic Design is used. Other things that are designed are logos; websites; books and magazines (both covers and inside typesetting and layout); signs both outdoor like store signs and also in-store signage like aisle markers and mall maps; product labels and packaging, company identity (letterhead, envelopes, business cards, postcards); CD and DVD covers and labels; movie credits; and more!
